About Me

My name is Mike Brownstein, and I’m an MA student in Political Science at Purdue University. I’m interested in political participation, media, elections, campaigns, and the Internet’s role in those topics. I’m taking a research seminar on the social Internet. I’m very excited about this, because it looks like we will be discussing the holes that I need to fill in some research I’m working on. I’m also very interested in social network analysis and the political effect of social media.

Outside of grad school, I do write a general political and hockey blog: Politics and Pucks.  I also tutor math at the K-12 level. When I have free time, I have a lot of hobbies that occupy my time. I love pop culture, games, stand-up comedy, and music. I’m a huge fan of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets, and the game of ice hockey in general. When I was younger I held a Level-II On-Ice Official Certification from USA Hockey and was a center and Assistant Captain of my High School Club Team.
